Halloween will be coming around in no time and taking a trip to the stunning Lyrath Estate with all the family for a luxurious two-night break is an ideal way to spend the midterm break.
Located just 1.5km from the Medieval city centre of Kilkenny, Lyrath Estate’s 170-acre grounds offer families the perfect destination for a short break away where they will have access to everything they could possibly want on site.
Lyrath Estate will run a number of events from October 29th-31st to celebrate one of the most anticipated times of the year. There will be a complimentary bat walk on Tuesday October 30th which will be ran by an expert from Bat Conservations Ireland on site, giving residents the chance to discover how to find bats and what kind of habits they have.
The Bat Walk will be both educational and entertaining for adults and children alike with a bat expert explaining what types of bats are currently resident in Ireland, what they like to eat and where they can be found. After the talk, children will be given a bat sonar listening device before heading out to spot bats on the expansive grounds.
Reilly’s Fun Club will also be running a host of fun and exciting activities to keep the kids entertained, with complimentary morning and evening Halloween themed events available. The new playground provides great outdoor fun for children, while there is also a private cinema and games console room available if the weather takes a turn for the worse.
Visitors will also get to see the latest addition to the Lyrath Estate family, Rudy the adorable Golden Retriever puppy who has been melting hearts since he arrived through the doors.
While the kids are enjoying some of the activities with Reilly’s Fun Club, adults can unwind in the relaxing thermal suite, which features a stunning hydrotherapy pool, or immerse themselves in a revitalising treatment in the award-winning Oasis Spa.
The Halloween package includes dinner for both parents on one evening, and guests can choose between a fine dining experience at the two AA Rosette Yew Restaurant which offers delectable cuisine in an elegant setting, or at The Grill & Bar which serves steaks, fish dishes and casual fayre.
Breakfast is included on both mornings, and the Halloween package for two adults and two children is available for just €185 per adult sharing. Children under the age of 4 are included in that price, while there is a €50 charge per child aged 5-12.
Anyone who books before September 30th and quotes ‘Rudy’ will receive a 10% discount on the family Halloween package.

The original house at Lyrath Estate is considered to be the most important surviving country house of John McCurdy and was reconstructed by Sir Charles Wheeler- Cuffe to appease his prospective father in law, Lord Stuart de Decies who felt that it was not grand enough for his daughter, Pauline and would not permit her to marry Wheeler Cuffe until the house was deemed impressive enough. To that effect the house was reconstructed and Sir Charles went on to marry Pauline. However, the story goes that the reconstruction put the unfortunate Sir Charles into terrible debt and his wife in fact never got over an earlier love affair with a Scottish railway engineer.
The original house has since been sympathetically restored to its former glory and all rooms preserve their original wallpaper. The house is also home to one of the most impressive collections of Irish art. Old world charm sits in perfect harmony with the contemporary new wing and the link with the old and new is both stylish and tasteful.
Attention to detail is also key throughout the estate, from great service, indulgent pampering treats, first class meeting and events, spa, exciting on site outdoor pursuits and activities to sumptuous food and wine.
