Featuring the Boodles Ladies Day in association with Sunway Holidays, Irish Country Magazine and Evoke.ie and The Boodles Ladies Derby
The 2016 Darley Irish Oaks took place at the Curragh Racecourse on Saturday the 16th of July. The race saw Europe’s top fillies compete for classic glory and €400,000 in total prize money and was won by ‘Seventh Heaven’ trained by Aidan O’Brien and ridden by Seamus Heffernan. The Boodles Ladies Derby, the most valuable thoroughbred race for lady jockeys in Europe was also staged on the day and was won by Helen Mooney on board Zeftan, trained by Adrian Keatley. Helen won a stunning piece of Boodles jewellery.
It was also the Boodles Ladies Day in association with Sunway Holidays, Irish Country Magazine and Evoke.ie and was won by Newbridge, Co. Kildare resident and local primary school teacher, Annmarie Phelan, who won a Boodles ‘Circus’ diamond pendant in white gold, and a holiday to Las Vegas for two with Sunway Holidays, including flights, six glorious nights in a four-star hotel, a day trip to the Grand Canyon, and a $500 Las Vegas Simon shopping destination voucher. This magnificent prize also included an annual subscription to Irish Country Magazine. The final three ladies also received a fabulous goody bags from Evoke.ie
The fashion judges on the day included Rhona Fitzpatrick from Boodles, Jeanette Taylor of Sunway Holidays, Jennifer Stevens, Editor of Irish Country Magazine and Grace Cahill of Evoke.ie. The judges were also ably assisted by leading lady jockeys Nina Carberry, Kate Harrington, Katie Walsh and Sarah O’Brien who all competed in the Boodles Ladies Derby. The judges were impressed with Annmarie’s ensemble which included a two piece outfit from Vanilla Boutique in Fermoy, Co. Cork, shoes and bag by ASOS, and hat by milliner CKB Millinery.
Speaking of her win, Annmarie said, “I really can’t believe I won and I am really thrilled, this is an unbelievable prize, I am really looking forward to planning this trip of a lifetime, and to win a piece of exquisite jewellery from Boodles is incredible. I have no really nice jewellery, and to have a piece like this is wonderful.”
The party continued after racing with music by Honky Tonk Angels joined on stage by The Conquerors.
